Storage period for gametes and embryos extended
On 1 July 2022, section 171 and Schedule 17 to the Health and Care Act 2022 came into force, extending the 10-year storage limit for gametes and embryos used in fertility treatment to 55 years.

In Bolton Council v KL [2022] EWCOP 24, HHJ Hilder concluded that the streamlined procedure for deprivation of liberty authorisations by the Court of Protection is not suitable for cases involving young people aged 16 and 17.
